Roleplaying Hints : Angel is the archetypical "good guy" he always tries to do what is right or for the greater good. He had spent most of the last 200 or so years alone and he continues to remain alone most of the time, despite the fact that his friends and co-workers are almost always around. When around people, Angel is often quiet and brooding, although when he does speak, his time around Buffy has given him quite a quick wit and sharp tongue. When angered, he is all business and his wrath seems all the more terrible due to the quiet and calmness that seems to come over him. It is likely that still loves Buffy but he realizes that their being together is impossible. He has recently realized that he feels more than a little affection towards Cordelia but he has yet to confess this to her.

Notes:
History: The vampire known as Angel was born a commoner Liam in Galway , Ireland , 1727. As Liam matured, he developed quite a taste for wine and women and an aversion to work. While out attempting to acquire his two great interests, Liam met a striking woman named Darla, who promised him all the wonders of the world. She offered to show him a world where anything he wanted was his for the taking. Angel agreed and Darla revealed herself to be a vampire, moments before turning him.
The dark embrace transformed Liam into Angelus “the one with the angelic face”, the cruelest vampire the world had ever known. For generations, he and Darla tortured, toyed with, and murdered anyone whom they pleased. In 1860, Angelus manipulated and psychologically tortured a young English girl named Drusilla. Plagued by visions, Drusilla was cast from her home as being touched by the Devil and placed her in a convent. Angelus pretended to be a priest in the confessional and told her that she was indeed the spawn of Satan and encouraged her to give in to the darkness. When her mental state was at its most unstable, Angelus killed everyone she loved, one by one, before finally claiming her into darkness on the day she was to take her holy vows. Drusilla, along with another vampire, an Englishman known as Spike, joined Angelus and Darla in their travels, their depredations becoming more horrific with each season.
Angelus was finally destroyed by a Gypsy kumpania after Angelus drained the blood of their favorite daughter. The Gypsies did not destroy Angelus physically, however. They placed a powerful curse on Angelus, restoring his soul and condemning him to an eternity of guilt and remorse. The gypsies also decided that one of their own would forever watch over Angel, as Angelus now called himself, to ensure that the curse forever made his existence hell on earth.
Eventually, Angel met a demon named Whistler, who convinced Angel to fight the good fight and make something of him self. Angel went to LA, where he discovered the young Slayer named Buffy Summers. Angel followed Buffy to Sunnydale, where he aided her in the fight against the Master and in protecting the Hellmouth. Eventually, Angel and Buffy fell in love. Despite their attempts to deny their mutual feelings, the desire between them was too great and in a night of unrestrained passion, Angel learned the horrible truth about what the Gypsies had done. Their curse, which had restored Angel's soul, only lasted until Angel experienced a moment of perfect happiness, at which time the demon, Angelus, would be reborn.
Angelus quickly returned to his un-life of evil, reclaiming dominance over Drusilla and an injured Spike. He would likely have continued his evil ways had Buffy not been there to stop him. The Slayer defeated her lover and sent him into Hell, in order to close the Hellmouth and stop it from consuming the Earth. At the moment of his descent, Buffy's friend and ally, Willow restored his soul, and Angel spent 100 years of torment in Hell. Somehow, Angel was released from Hell and, after being nursed back to health by Buffy, Angel again joined her in the fight against evil.
It soon became apparent that it was far too dangerous for the two of them to remain together. The temptation that their love caused would always carry with it the possibility of Angelus' return. Therefore, after defeating the evil and immortal Mayor of Sunnydale, Angel returned to Los Angeles , where he continued to fight the good fight and protect the innocent. Doyle, a demon sent by the Powers that Be and another ally from Sunnydale, Cordelia Chase, joined Angel and the three of them formed "Angel Investigations," protecting those who cannot defend themselves and helping other lost souls find their way.
After Doyle was killed, Angel was joined by a rogue watcher and demon hunter, Wesley and a young man from the streets and self proclaimed “Slayer”, Gunn. The group continues to fight against the evil of the world, as well as evil's legal aid, Wolfrahm and Hart, attorneys at law.
In a moment of darkness, Angel was once again tempted into a night of lust with Darla. Although it was obviously not a “moment of perfect happiness”, since Angelus did not return, Darla did, to everyone's disbelief, become pregnant with Angels child!
Angel and his friends discovered that the child was apparently the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy that may or may not bring about the end of the world and that the child would not be born. In a moment of true selflessness, Darla sacrificed herself, staking her self, so that the baby would live. Angel must now protect his son, specifically from Wolfrahm and Hart, who seem to want him, and find time to continue the fight against evil.
